WELLPROD™
Course 11 Stimulation

The Well Productivity ProgrammeWell Stimulation

Stimulation is how a well exceeds its natural deliverability, by dissolving the rock or by splitting it. This course covers both arms in depth: matrix acidizing chemistry, placement and additives, and the mechanics, fluids and proppant transport of hydraulic fracturing.

What you'll be able to do

Design the treatment, not just order it

Stimulation rewards engineering and punishes guesswork. Course 11 trains you to design acid systems and frac treatments from the chemistry and mechanics up, and to know which arm the well actually needs.

Acidize the matrix

Design carbonate wormholing and sandstone mud-acid jobs with the critical pre-flush.

Place the acid

Direct the treatment with mechanical and chemical/particulate diversion.

Control the chemistry

Specify iron control, corrosion inhibitors and mutual solvents for downhole behaviour.

Fracture for conductivity

Apply in-situ stress, FCD, fluid rheology, leak-off, proppant selection and TSO design.

The two arms of stimulation

Dissolve the rock or split it: these five modules build matrix acidizing and hydraulic fracturing from first principles to a designed, deliverable treatment.

Who this course is for

  • Stimulation and completion engineers designing acid and frac treatments.
  • Production engineers targeting deliverability beyond the natural inflow.
  • Service-company and operator engineers specifying fluids, additives and proppant.
  • Engineers completing the programme with its deepest treatment-design course.

What you leave with

  • The ability to design matrix acidizing for carbonate and sandstone with the right pre-flush.
  • A command of mechanical and chemical acid-placement and diversion.
  • Confidence specifying iron control, corrosion inhibitors and mutual solvents.
  • A working grasp of fracture mechanics, conductivity, fluid rheology and proppant transport.
How it's taught

Problem-based, not slide-based

Every module opens with a real well problem. You work the engineering, then the theory is introduced to explain what you found: the way the material was honed in the classroom over fifteen years.

01

Start with a well

Each topic is anchored to a field scenario with real data, not an abstract derivation.

02

Work the problem

You choose the arm of stimulation and design the treatment to the rock, then the theory frames why.

03

Complete the programme

Stimulation brings the whole productivity story together, from diagnosis to deliverable treatment.
